An inhumanly tall figure rose from the dirt-streaked Rhino apc. Aranged around the still revving vehicle, was a group of trationaly clad youths. Bowed in reverence, their heads in the dirt, they knew what would come. The demi-god Sky Warrior, would examine them, one by one, using his magickal powers to test them worthy. Passing this test would be the first step on joining Those from the Sky.
....
Tension rose in the 14 year old warrior. Sweat trickled down his brow, and coated his skin, would he pass?. Ang-zhow, of the Brazen Skull Collective and a sworn Blood-enemy , rose from the dirt, proud and defiant. His enemy had just passed the test . So far all passed had passed the test.
The sound of heavy ceramite boots scraping on packed dirt grew, untill the now quivering youth, knew the man-and-a-half tall warrior, was but a step removed from him.
....
Ang whatched in anticipation as the Sky-warrior, preformed the same rite, on his sworn Blood-enemy, as he performed on him. He silently prayed to mighty God-Emperor, that his enemy would fail, hoped with all hope, the Sky-Warrior would make him suffer. All canididates who passed, were expected to set aside old family feuds, and be as brothers.
....
The Sky-Warrior raised his armoured gaunleted fist, and extended his index finger. The air changed from hot and dry, to chill and clammy. The rock hewn features of the Warrior grew even more graven. Light played of the Warrior's halberd, and his eyes seemed to glow. A second later it was over. Hot and dry once again.
The giant Sky-warrior moved with a liquid grace, that just did not match with someone of his size. A quick blow with the blunt end uf the halberd, sent the youth sprawling in the dirt on his back, his face a bloody riuin. Before he even landed, The warrior had drawn a pistol from his holster, and sent two bolts streaking in two the torso of the youth. Mass reactive tips ended all the youths ambitions, Nothing left but a smoking cavity, that at one time could be called a chest.
Engaging the vox-caster on his armour, the Space Marine belowed: "A youth of some potential he was, strong in body, quick of mind...
Yet tainted with the sins of Doubt and Tollerance he was. The weak have no place among us. You would do well to remember this!
The rest of you have passed, know that you are welcome".
With a quick chopping motion, the Warrior motioned the youths in to the Rhino apc. With all aboard, the tracked apc sped of, leaving the corpse of a once proud youth, as food for the numerous scavengers that inhabited the harsh Dust Sea....

a piece, done in acryllic paint and inks, that I did because I felt I had not enough warhammer 40.000 fanart on my page .
Its a photo, not a scan.
It represents a Librarian space marine. A genetically enhanced psychic warior. from the warhammer 40.000 (a table-top wargame) Testing for potential space marines on a pre-blackpowder world.

Seeing that halberd I first thought it was a Grey Knight ...
Cool lil story... the fact the yoouth died was a nice turn... but somehow, didn't really surprised me... not after reading quite a few Warhammer novels
Great concept.... the Librarian really stands out.... and I like the effects around the halberd... I just can't make out what chapter badge is painted on that Rhino... it does seem familiar tho..
yup, the 40k 'ooniverse aintb excactly nice...
It was actualy intended, to go with my submission for the internal Chapter Master contest. But I was to busy (marjolein) to finish it in time, so its not an excisting chapter.

another great piece, i love the watercolor look to the paint, do you use a gloss or matte medium with the acrylics to get that? The layering up process shows through and is just wonderful, the inking makes your edges clean and smooth, but doen't stand out as ink, just as a well executed brush stroke, well done
thanx mate . Nah I dont use Mediums at all. Loathe the stuff, difficult to control. Just use lotsa layers of regular ol 'cryllic paint and inks. If I want something to be really smooth, ill give a thin glaze of white (gloss-ish) 'cryllic ink.
As for the lining, I was actually wondering what people thought of that stuff , so thanx m8.

a chapter of your own design i assume. it's really quite good, you have a 'john blanche' focus to it. the space marine's head is still human-sized though, the implants increase bone structure, which would increase the size of his head (thicker skull i presume.)
carry on.

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
